Buying guide

How to choose a charging IC

  • Know which chip handles which job. On iPhone, the Tristar/Hydra (U2) IC detects the cable and USB data, the Tigris IC charges the battery, and Iktara/Dotara ICs handle wireless charging.

  • Match the marking. e.g. 610A3B (Tristar, iPhone 7/7 Plus), SN2400AB0 (Tigris, iPhone 6S–7 Plus), STWPSPA1 (Dotara, iPhone 12 series).

  • Rule out the port first. A damaged charging port flex or dock connector causes similar symptoms and is a cheaper fix.

Symptoms worth checking

No charging, fake charging, "accessory not supported" messages or fast battery drain can all point to the charging circuit. Measure the charging current with a USB ammeter or DC power supply before replacing parts.

FAQ

What is a Tristar IC?

Tristar (later Hydra) is the U2 USB/charging control chip on iPhones. It manages cable detection and USB data; when it fails the phone may not charge or may not be recognised by a computer.

What does the Tigris IC do?

Tigris is the battery charger IC on many iPhones. It regulates charging current to the battery.

Do you sell wireless charging ICs?

Yes – for example Iktara (BC59355A2, STPMB0) and Dotara (STWPSPA1, 338S00817) for iPhone, plus P9320S and MIW04X02 for Samsung.
