The 42mm Series 3 screen on this page comes in four combinations: GPS or cellular, each in OEM Pull or OEM Refurb. Only one version will actually suit a given watch, and the grade is a smaller decision than it first looks.

Matching the 42mm Series 3 version

Cellular Series 3 models use the display as part of their antenna design, so the GPS and GPS + Cellular screens are not interchangeable. A red dot on the Digital Crown marks a cellular watch; the model number on the back confirms it. Fitting the GPS panel to a cellular watch can leave it with weak or no mobile signal.

Then pick the grade

OEM Pull: Apple's display taken from a donor watch, usually the cheaper option.
OEM Refurb: an Apple panel with new front glass, so it starts without scuffs.

Faults it puts right

A cracked face, a black screen while the watch still vibrates, touch that has gone dead and lines after a fall are all display faults. A screen that has lifted from the case usually means the battery underneath has swollen, and the battery should be replaced in the same repair.

Open the watch with gentle heat and a thin blade and seal it with fresh adhesive once the new screen tests well. With the right combination, a 42mm Series 3 is a capable everyday watch again.
