The 2018 iPad 6 looks almost the same as the iPad 5 before it, but it added Apple Pencil support, and that changed the touch layer. That's why the two glasses aren't swapped freely, and why a buyer needs to know which model they have. Look for A1893 or A1954 on the back of your iPad.
This aftermarket touch screen digitizer is the front glass and touch layer for the iPad 6, in Black or White. The LCD is not included.
A crack from a drop is the usual case, and on a tablet used by children it's often a corner hit. Another case is a touch screen that stopped responding properly, with dead zones or taps that land somewhere else. A third is a Pencil that suddenly draws with gaps along one area while the screen looks fine, which can point to a damaged touch layer.
The glass is held by adhesive around the edge, so you need gentle heat, picks and patience. The LCD sits underneath and should be lifted out before the old glass is cleaned off the frame, which protects it from pressure.
With new glass, the iPad 6 goes back to drawing, notes and video, and the repair costs far less than a new tablet.
