Details

The iPhone XS and XS Max differ in size but share the same dual rear camera, with wide and telephoto lenses. That makes this module the right part for either phone, and it's a common repair on phones that are still in daily use.

This aftermarket rear camera module is the dual camera for the iPhone XS and XS Max. It doesn't fit the iPhone X.

Signs the module needs replacing

Replace it when the camera shows black, when photos are blurry through clean lens glass, when 2x zoom or Portrait mode stops working, or when the picture shakes or the camera buzzes. Drops and liquid exposure are the usual causes.

Check the lens cover first: a crack there causes haze and is a cheaper fix. Access is from the front, with the display lifted after the two bottom pentalobe screws are out. After fitting, test both lenses, zoom, Portrait mode and video.

With both lenses working, the XS or XS Max is ready for portraits and zoom again.

It's an economical repair compared with replacing a phone that otherwise works well.
