Plenty of Galaxy Z Fold 2 owners use the phone closed most of the day, on the cover screen, opening it only for reading or video. When that cover screen cracks or goes dark, the Fold suddenly has to be opened for every message, and it stops being convenient.

This outer OLED assembly is the cover screen for the Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G. It's offered as a single option for all phone colors and is sold as an aftermarket part.

Why the cover screen gets replaced

Typical cases are cracked glass from a drop, a cover screen that stays black while the inner screen works, touch that doesn't respond, and lines or blotches after an impact. A lifted edge that lets dust in is another reason to replace it.

The cover screen is glued to the frame, so plan for gentle heat, thin picks and fresh adhesive. Test display and touch before the new screen is pressed down.

With a working cover screen, the Fold 2 is back to being usable with one hand, closed, for most of the day.
